Abstract:
The dataset presents multiple images of zoned olivine crystals from Llaima volcano. Some images are semi-quantitative x-ray maps showing Forsterite content, where Forsterite (mol%)= 100* (Mg/(Mg+Fe)). Other images are false color back scattered electron images, where the warm tones are Fe-rich and the cooler tones are Mg-rich. Olivines were grouped based on olivine morphology and melt inclusion abundance. The data were collected to determine the best location for quantitative electron microprobe traverses for diffusion chronometry studies.
