Abstract:
The study area is the hydrogeological basin of the Piazza Armerina. Geochemical methods have been a useful tools for understanding processes altering the quality of groundwaters during their flow, such as the interactions between host rocks and groundwater and pollution coming from human activities. Records include: chemical-physical parameters, major elements, minor elements and trace elements composition of water collected from 11 springs and 5 wells in the 2004-2005. This study is part of the Water Protection Plan of the Sicilian Regional Government.
