Abstract:
This dataset concerns the hydrogeological basin of Rocca Busambra that is located in the central-western area of Sicily and covers an area of about 140 km2 in the municipalities of Corleone, Godrano, CefalĂ  Diana, Villafrati, Monreale, Campofelice di Fitalia and Mezzojuso. The main hydrogeological basin Rocca Busambra has been divided in three hydrogeological sub-basins (Rocca Busambra, Cozzo dell'Aquila-Cozzo della Croce, and Mezzojuso). Geochemical methods have been an useful tools for understanding processes altering the quality of groundwaters during their flow, such as the interactions between host rocks and groundwater and pollution coming from human activities. Records include: chemical-physical parameteres, major elements, minor elements and trace elements composition of water collected from 8 springs and 1 drainage galleries in the 2004-2005. This study is part of the Water Protection Plan of the Sicilian Regional Government.
