Abstract:
Bulk rock geochemistry was acquired from metamorphic sole rocks to decipher protoliths. XRD analyses were performed to discern mineralogical variability for all visually distinct compositional layers in the core samples, as well as some foliation-parallel and cross-cutting veins. Quantitative mineral chemistry from foliation-forming white micas and amphiboles were collected to constrain changes in pressure and temperature during subduction and exhumation in a subduction channel shear zone beneath the Samail Ophiolite.
