Abstract:
ICP-MS elemental analyses and helium isotope measurements of bulk soil samples and detrital magnetite grains to measure the cosmogenic 3He exposure age of a soil offset by the Banning Strand of the San Andreas Fault near Whitewater (CA). Magnetite separates were extracted by a neodymium magnet and then microCT scanned to detect mineral inclusions before helium measurement. Some samples contain inclusions, while others are inclusion-free.
