Abstract:
Major and trace element compositions of Clinopyroxene, olivine, and plagioclase. Major element analyses of chromian spinel. The purpose was to look at the petrogenesis of thin ~0.05 to 1.0 m troctolites crossing cutting olivine gabbro and gabbro in the upper 500 m of ODP Hole 735B in the Atlantis Bank Gabbro Batholith located in the southern rift mountains of the SW Indian Ridge. The goal was to test the hypothesis that they represent the residues of primitive melt transport through the lower crust to the seafloor.
