Abstract:
In 2016 a joint IODP-ICDP drilling expedition recovered a 100% intact core from the peak ring of the Chicxulub Impact Basin. This core spanned from post-impact sediments, through the impact horizon into granitic bedrock below. The impact horizon, as well as deeper impact lithologies, were measured in an effort to further understand the type of impactor as well as the post-impact distribution of its signature.
