Catchment vegetation, climatic, and sub-surface total carbon and nitrogen contents and isotopic compositions of 18 temperate and sub-tropical Australian wetlands
Abstract:
This dataset presents sub-surface sediment-geochemical data and remote sensing (leaf carbon content in g/m2, catchment vegetation cover in %) and climatic data of 18 temperate and sub-tropical Australian wetland. A total of 70 sub-surface sediment samples were analysed for carbon and nitrogen contents and stable isotopic composition down to 4 cm depth. The data is used to investigate statistical links between catchment characteristics and sedimentary geochemistry in order to provide a framework for geochemical proxy interpretations in the geological past. The sites are locate in Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland.
