Abstract:
This dataset includes sediment pore water chemistry and porosity measurements from a seep site called Pythia's Oasis located on the continental margin offshore of central Oregon, USA. Samples were collected by the RV Atlantis on AT42-17 (Chief Scientist Deborah Kelley; Co-Chief Scientists Evan Solomon, Mike Vardaro). Alongside heat flow measurements, push core and gravity core samples were collected for porosity measurements and pore water extraction throughout the seepage area; isobaric gas tight and MAJOR samplers were used to collect fluids expelled from the main vent of the Pythia's Oasis seep area. This study was designed to evaluate magnitude and distribution of heat flow, fluid flow, and chemical flux at the Pythia's Oasis seep. This work was supported by NSF award OCE-1658201.
