Abstract:
Carbon isotope chemostratigraphy may be useful in making correlations of continental strata to marine strata, especially as a result of carbon cycle perturbations. Such investigations in the Cretaceous Period are well established. Bulk sedimentary carbon isotope values of lacustrine strata (informally named the "Lake Carpenter" site from the Ruby Ranch Member of the Cedar Mountain Formation, Utah are used to correlated these strata to the late Aptian stage.
