Abstract:
This dataset presents new major element oxides analyses for flow units of the Tungnáhraun basalts, SE Iceland. These large flows are the southeasternmost fissure basalts of the Bardabunga central volcano. The data are used in conjunction with EPMA analyses, diffusion modeling, and crystal size distribution analyses to document the formation of plagioclase ultraphyric basalts at Bardabunga during and subsequent to Pleistocene glaciation.
