EPMA analyses of Pl+Ol+Cpx from Tungnahraun basalt lavas, SE Iceland

Abstract:
This dataset presents new electron microprobe analyses for plagioclase, olivine and clinopyroxene from flow units of the Tungnáhraun basalts, SE Iceland. These large flows are the southeasternmost fissure basalts of the Bardabunga central volcano. The data are used in conjunction with bulk rock major element data, diffusion modeling, and crystal size distribution analyses to document the formation of plagioclase ultraphyric basalts at Bardabunga during and subsequent to Pleistocene glaciation.
