Abstract:
We analyzed 3He and 4He concentrations, and %CaCO3, in sediments from Eltanin piston core 49-53 from the southeast Indian Ocean. A subset of the samples was analyzed previously for 60Fe excess by Wallner et al. (Nature, 2016), as a test of the hypothesis that a nearby supernova showered the Earth with exotic nuclides in the last 3.5 million years.
