Expert Dataset: Major and Volatile Elements in Global Back-Arc Basin Basalts
Abstract:
This data set is a synthesis of major and volatile element data associated with 783 rocks/glasses or melt inclusions from 65 studies of submarine basalts from global back-arc basins. Samples are included in this data set if there is an analysis of one of five major volatile elements (H2O, CO2, F, S, Cl), along with major element data for the same sample. We compile previously published data, and include two previously unpublished data sets for melt inclusions from the Lau Basin and for pillow glasses from the Lau Basin and the East Scotia Rift.
