Abstract:
This dataset contains chemistries for groundwater samples from the Soudan Underground Mine state park, a site of recent interest for research into the deep continental biosphere. The Soudan Mine is located in Northeastern Minnesota, at a 2.7 Ga banded iron formation in the southernmost portion of the Canadian Shield. The samples were all taken from the mine's lowest level and from boreholes drilled between 1955 - 1965. The water chemistries were measured between 2019 and 2022. Water chemistry data includes major cations, major anions, and trace elements as well as physical measurements like temperature and pH.
