Abstract:
This dataset presents whole-rock major- and trace-element analyses of basalts from the Snake River Plain, ID and those located adjacent to Yellowstone. This dataset also includes electron microprobe analyses of associated mineral phases including olivine, plagioclase, and Fe-Ti oxides (ilmenite and titanomagnetite). Whole-rock and mineral compositions are used to place constraints on temperature, melt H2O content, and fO2 using a variety of crystal-melt thermometers, hygrometers, and oxybarometers.
