Abstract:
The dataset contains analysis of melt inclusions from the most mafic eruptions of Campi Flegrei (near Naples, southern Italy) in the last 15 kyr by EPMA, and whole-rock XRF analysis of potential basement lithologies under Campi Flegrei, which may interact with ascending magma. The EPMA measurements were on clinopyroxene hosted melt inclusions from 3 of the most mafic eruptions in the last 15 kyr, sampled from within the Campi Flegrei caldera. The XRF analysis was of whole-rock samples of 4 different lithologies (gneiss, syenite, limestone, wedge-top flysch) sampled from around the Campi Flegrei caldera and southern Italy. The dataset forms part of an investigation into magma evolution at Campi Flegrei, constraining Campi Flegrei magma storage conditions and assimilation-fractional crystallisation processes.
