Abstract:
Investigating trace and rare earth elements (REE) in accessory minerals can provide important information regarding the petrogenetic process acting during mineral crystallization, increasing the scientific interest in mineral composition characterization. Apatite, titanite, and zircon are the main accessory minerals in the Boesmanskop Alkaline Complex, part of the ca 3100 Ma Granodiorite-Monzogranite-Syenogranite suite, in the Barberton Granite-Greenstone Terrain, South Africa, Kaapvaal Craton. This dataset provides the trace element and REE compositions of apatite, titanite, and zircon along with in situ U-Pb zircon ages, from Archean syenites and quartz monzonites, which display pervasive K-feldspar accumulation. Trace elements and REE and U-Pb data were obtained through in-situ LA-ICP-MS analyses conducted at the Central Analytical Facilities, Stellenbosch University, South Africa. The apatite and titanite analyses were subdivided according to their chemical signatures in groups with high middle REE and lower middle REE contents.
