Abstract:
This dataset includes geochemistry of dust samples collected from MWAC (modified Wilson and Cook) samplers in Utah/Nevada from 2022-2024. The samples were collected across different landuse types, including alluvial fans, croplands, areas with oil and gas development, playas, and rangelands. We had five sites for each landuse type. At each site, we deployed three MWAC sample masts, each with three sample ports at different heights (15 cm, 50 cm, and 85 cm above ground level). Multiple samples were collected from each site over the three-year period, with sample periods ranging from three to twelve months. In most cases, samples from multiple heights were composited to have sufficient material for analysis. Bulk dust samples digested at room temperature for 24 hours using aqua regia (1:3 nitric acid to hydrochoric acid). The digestate was analyzed for trace and major element concentrations by ICP-MS at the University of Utah.
