Geochemical and age dating of metagreywackes from the Prydz Bay region, East Antarctica
Abstract:
The metagreywackes were collected from the Rauer Islands (68°51’2”S, 77°54’32’’E), eastern Prydz Bay, which document a Pan-African granulite facies metamorphism with peak metamorphic conditions of ~0.95 GPa and ~850 °C. The dataset include the mineral compositions, zircon and monazite ages of the rocks. Isotopic dating results indicate that the anatexis occurred during the Pan-African. The rocks contain abundant melt inclusions in garnet, which were rehomogenized under P-T conditions of 850 ℃ and 12 kbar with a piston cylinder. The major and trace elements of melt inclusions are shown in this dataset. Overall, they are silicic, peraluminous and K-enriched in composition.
