Abstract:
Olivine crystals (0.5 to >1 mm in length) and glass from Unit 3 of the Kulanaokuaiki Tephra Member (400 to 1000 C.E.) of the Uwēkahuna Ash (200 B.C.E. to 1000 C.E.) from Kīlauea volcano, Hawai‘i were analyzed via electron microprobe for major and minor elements. Forsterite (Fo; [Mg/(Mg+Fe)] * 100) profiles were modeled for diffusive re-equilibration timescales. A subset of the same crystals was mapped via laser ablation – inductively coupled mass spectrometry for lithium, phosphorus, aluminum, and silica. Data release includes sample metadata, methods metadata, secondary standard measurements, modeling parameters, and analyses.
