Abstract:
Fluorine (F), a key incompatible volatile element, is crucial for understanding mantle melting, magmatic evolution, and volatile dynamics in layered mafic-ultramafic intrusions. This study utilizes NanoSIMS to measure F concentrations in orthopyroxene and plagioclase across the Bushveld Complex. These findings elucidate the roles of parental magma composition, fluid dynamics, and crystallization conditions in driving F depletion in the Bushveld Complex.
