Monazite petrochronology reveals the exhumation history of ultrahigh-pressure metapelites: A case from the North Qinling Belt, Central China
Abstract:
This dataset includes textural and petrographical investigations, whole-rock major analyses, chemical composition (major and trace elements) of the major minerals and accessory phases, Monazite U–Th–Pb analysis of metapelites from North Qinling belt, Central China. To constrain the growth history of monazite, we applied three complementary U–Th–Pb geochronological methods: high-precision SIMS dating of separated grains, in situ LA–ICP–MS analysis of thin sections, and high-spatial-resolution EPMA dating of small domains. The whole rock compositions for phase equilibria modeling are analyzed by XRF, and zircon U-Pb dating are analyzed by LA-ICP-MS. Mineral scanning of a whole polished thin sections was performed using a TESCAN Integrated Mineral Analyser (TIMA) respectively. Mineral compositions (major and trace elements) of major and accessory minerals were systematically analyzed using EPMA and LA-ICP-MS.
