Abstract:
We present major and trace element data (including element mapping) as well as Sr isotopic compositions of apatite crystals from the Pariquera-Açu Suite (Lower Cretaceous). This suite displays significant textural and chemical variability, along with macroscopic evidence of magma mixing, including felsic enclaves and clots within inequigranular malignite, and makes an ideal target for studying the crystallization behavior of apatite in an open-system environment. Additionally, we provide lithogeochemical data and whole-rock 87Sr/86Sr ratios for the apatite host rocks. Apatite crystals in 90-µm polished thin sections were analyzed by EMP, LA-ICP-MS, and LA-MC-ICP-MS. Prior to analysis, petrographic investigations using optical and scanning electron microscopy were conducted to identify key features that were the focus of the microanalysis
