Analytical methods for whole-rock geochemistry, monazite U–(Th)–Pb geochronology, Sm–Nd isotopes, and mineral chemistry of leucogranites from the Nyalam segment of the South Tibetan Detachment System, central Himalaya
Abstract:
This method describes the analytical procedures for whole-rock geochemistry, monazite U–(Th)–Pb geochronology, Sm–Nd isotopic analysis, and mineral chemistry of leucogranites from the Nyalam segment of the South Tibetan Detachment System, central Himalaya. Whole-rock compositions were determined by XRF and ICP–MS, and fluorine concentrations by a fluoride ion-selective electrode method. Monazite U–(Th)–Pb ages were obtained by LA-ICP-MS, and Sm–Nd isotopic compositions by LA-MC-ICP-MS. Mineral compositions were analyzed using electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). The workflow ensures reproducible and comparable analytical results.
