Abstract:
This dataset includes bulk-rock and mineral geochemical data for the Carlingford Complex Later Gabbros (Co. Louth, Ireland) — a layered mafic intrusion forming part of the British-Irish Paleogene Igneous Province. Samples were taken across two linear outcrop transects, covering 411 m of exposed stratigraphy, and drill core material covering 93 m of subsurface stratigraphy (~3 m sample spacing). 110 samples were analysed for bulk-rock geochemistry via WD-XRF; 25 were analysed for core, mantle, and rim measurements of olivine, clinopyroxene, and plagioclase (where present) via EPMA. The purpose of these data was to characterise the full stratigraphy of the Carlingford layered gabbros to understand shallow-crustal magma processes.
