Abstract:
This dataset contains whole rock, melt inclusion, glass, and crystal analyses for tephra from the 1913 phreatomagmatic eruption of the Hospital Tuff, Ambrym volcano. Whole rock data includes major and trace elements, and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes. Melt inclusion and glass data includes major, trace, and volatile elements and major elements of associated host crystals. Melt inclusion and glass data reflect two distinct fractionation trends indicated by K2O, P2O5, H2O, and trace element ratios that are not observed in the whole rock data. Medium-K melt inclusions and glass are interpreted as a shallow contaminant incorporated through assimilation of crystals or shallow fragmentation.
