The Petrogenesis of Orbicular Rocks and Sulfide Metallogenesis in the Koperberg Suite, Namaqualand Metamorphic Complex, South Africa
Abstract:
The dataset comprises major-element mineral chemistry, Sr isotope data, and sulfide trace-element analyses from orbicules in the Koperberg Suite, South Africa. Major-element compositions of biotite, plagioclase, and orthopyroxene were determined by EPMA to characterise mineral compositions and constrain orbicule formation. Initial Sr isotope ratios were determined using MC-ICP-MS to investigate the isotopic characteristics and potential sources of the orbicular rocks. Trace elements in sulfides were analysed by LA-ICP-MS to constrain sulfide melt evolution and metal behaviour. Together with the supplementary figures, these data provide a comprehensive basis for understanding orbicule genesis and sulfide metallogenesis within the Koperberg Suite.
