Mineral and whole rock geochemical data of the peridotites and chromitites from the Lycian ophiolite, Turkey
Abstract:
This dataset presents the mineral and whole-rock geochemical compositions of the peridotites and chromitites in the Lycian ophiolite. Mineral major oxide compositions were analyzed on polished thin sections using a JEOL JXA-iSP100 electron probe at Nanjing Hongchuang Exploration Technology Service Co., Ltd. In situ trace element compositions of chromite were analyzed by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) at Nanjing Hongchuang Exploration Technology Service Co., Ltd., using an ATLEX 300 193 nm ArF Excimer laser coupled to an Agilent 7900 ICP-MS system. Whole-rock major oxide and trace element compositions of the Lycian harzburgites and dunites were determined using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) on fused glass disks at Wuhan Sample Solution Analytical Technology Co., Ltd. (WSSATCL) in China. Whole-rock trace element analyses of the harzburgites and dunites were conducted using an Agilent 7700e inductively coupled mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Whole-rock PGE compositions were concentrated using the nickel sulfide fire assay and Te-coprecipitation method and analyzed using ICP-MS at the National Research Center for Geoanalysis, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Beijing. The Re and Os contents and Re isotopic compositions were measured using a Thermo iCAP Qc ICP-MS, and the Os isotopic composition was measured using negative thermal ionization mass spectrometry (N-TIMS), respectively, at the State Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Processes and Resources, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
