Abstract:
Major and trace element compositions alongside Sr, Nd, & Pb isotopic characterization of two carbonatite and three nepheline syenites from the alkaline-carbonatitic basement complex of Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. Major (by X-ray fluorescence) and trace element (by ICP-MS) concentrations of the five Fuerteventura samples were analyzed alongside geological reference material BCR-2 at the Washington State University Geoanalytical Labs. Sample preparation, dissolution, and column chemistry of the Fuerteventura samples were carried out at UCSB and analyzed for 87Sr/86Sr and 143Nd/144Nd isotope ratios via Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS) in parallel with geological reference materials BCR-2 and AGV-2. While Pb isotope characterization was performed at the University of South Carolina and analyzed via TIMS similarly analyzed alongside geologic reference materials BCR-2 and AGV-2.
