Bulk-Rock, Glass, and Mineral Compositions of Eruptive Products from the 2023 Eruption of Shishaldin Volcano, Alaska
Abstract:
This dataset includes bulk-rock, glass, and mineral compositions, as well as modal analyses of eruptive products from the 2023 eruption of Shishaldin Volcano, Alaska. Major- and trace-element concentrations in bulk-rock samples were determined by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) at the Peter Hooper GeoAnalytical Laboratory, Washington State University. Major-element compositions of matrix glass, melt inclusions, and minerals were determined by electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) at the Advanced Analytical Laboratory of the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska Fairbanks. New EPMA analyses of glasses and minerals from the 1999 and 2019 Shishaldin eruptions are also included for comparison.
