Bulk compositions and modal mineralogy of reacted silicate xenoliths in kimberlites and rodingites
Abstract:
The dataset comprises mineralogical and geochemical measurements of reacted silicate xenoliths from the Gahcho Kué, Pionerskaya, and Renard kimberlites, together with rodingites from the Coquihalla Serpentinite Belt in western Canada and the Pindos Ophiolite in Greece. The measurements include X-ray diffraction modal mineralogy, Ritveld X-ray diffraction modal mineralogy and whole-rock XRF major-element compositions, complemented by mineralogical observations used to characterize reaction zones and metasomatic changes. These data are used as input and constraints for thermodynamic modelling of mineral assemblages, formation temperatures, and fluid regimes. The dataset provides the basis for comparing reacted xenoliths with classic rodingites and evaluating their interpretation as a distinct variety termed “volcanic rodingites.”
