Oxygen isotope sclerochronology of marine mollusks from the Miocene and Pliocene of the US Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain
Abstract:
This dataset contains oxygen isotope (d18O) profiles of 6 scallops (3 Chesapecten middlesexensis, 2 Chesapecten jeffersonius, 1 Placopecten clintonius) and 4 clams (Glycymeris subovata) from the Cobham Bay Member of the Eastover Formation (Miocene) and Sunken Meadow Member of the Yorktown Formation (Pliocene). These samples are all from Pipsico Scout Reservation on the James River, Virginia. The purpose of this dataset is to understand how these shells can record changes in seasonality and ocean currents.
