The chemical and isotopic compositions of deep natural gas, shallow natural gas and seafloor hydrate from different burial depths in the Lingshui Sag of the the Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea
Abstract:
Three seabed gas hydrate samples, 1 shallow natural gas sample and 2 deep natural gas samples were collected from the Lingshui Sag in the Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea, for the analysis of gas composition, bulk stable isotopes and methane clumped isotopes. Abundances of singly and doubly-substituted isotopologues of methane (13CH4, 12CH3D, 13CH3D, and 12CH2D2) are measured on a Panorama (Pan004), an ultra–high–resolution gas–source multiple collector Mass Spectrometer at Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry (GIG).
